I never liked Blackwings, glad they got grapeed up by the list.

only really see it being used in a sworn variant with 3 vayus.

I think BlackWings will still be a power deck. They only ran 3 solemn to set up their rampant OTK's or stop others's rampant OTK's. With solemn at 1, I think a modified BlackWings will still do good.

I honestly think VayuTurbo or VayuSworn has a position in tier 1 in this new format. Especially VayuTurbo.

They also lost gale to 1,DSF to nothing and reborn, even though they can use COTH, it just wont be the same as reborn.

@Xero:Yeah,i was thinking about tryin a zombie/vayu variant of LS with Burials.

With Mind Control down to one now I can absolutely see Control Blackwings seeing a resurgance in play and giving better access to Arcanite.

I can see Vayu being teched into some regular blackwing builds.
You can use it to go into Catastor/Android if you special it off Shura.
Then you can do another synchro summon with it from the grave.

Why even use Vayu. I rather use three Blizzards and add in a treeborn frog. Then I can pretty much throw down almost any Synchro monster I want to. Might even use that Mistral as well.

it cant be used as a tuner on the field so that wont work. XD

I really do have a really good deck with Vayu though.

While i understand Gale being limited, I think that it should at least gone down to 2 first, instead of just limiting it altogether. Dark strike being gone, surely should make blackwings less dangerous. Don't get me wrong, the effect of gale is pretty broken, but it seems like the blackwing deck type is essentially screwed over before it even got started. I hope they bring at least 1 gale back. I already have 3 vayus, so il give them a go, but it doesn't look too promising.

Tech Dark Eruption, Gale's special summon effect makes Dark Eruption pretty decent.


Black Whirlwind is easily one of the most powerful cards in the game. Blackwings are still a powerhouse. If I play this format on YVD I'll probably be using Blackwings most of the time, I really like the deck.

For me it's still a toss up between BWs and GBs again.
I like the concept of BW Graveyard, but investing in Vayu's is bad atm for me since college is starting up again pretty soon. Hell, I might not play this format, idk.

Still a very good deck this format, and we get that new Synchro Monster, this guy:

1 "Blackwing" Tuner Monster + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can select up to 2 face-up monsters on the field that have DEF lower than this card's ATK and destroy them. During the turn this effect is activated, you cannot conduct your Battle Phase. Also, once during your opponent's turn, while you control this face-up card, "Blackwing" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle.

Shura+Vayu+Kalut= This guy.
