Hey guys. We're starting a member of the month contest. It is essentially an activity contest. Whoever posts the most/makes the best posts during the month of August will be the member of the month.

Near the end of the month [August 27th], I'll post a poll thread with around 5 members who the staff will pick as possible members of the month. From there, you guys get to vote on who you would like to see as member of the month. They will be the Member of the Month for the next month, and near the end of every month, there will be new people nominated and you get to decide on a new member of the month. As the winner of the contest, you get:

• Your own usergroup
  
• Your own username color and formatting
  
• Member of the Month winner sig
  
• Access to the staff lounge! You can contribute to any discussions, as well as bring up all issues that you would like to see addressed. It's like you're mod for a month. You get to be a direct representative of the people's voice.
  
• Access to the former staff lounge! You can chill with the old guys and post in the famed Hot Tub!
  
• Ask Achilles! During your run as MotM, you can ask me anything you want about yourself or ETC, and I will answer it truthfully.

These facilities will expire once you end your reign as member of the month, and the next MotM will get to experience it. The only criteria to win this award is activity. The more you post, the better your posts are, and the more you advertise or help out around the board, the better your chances are. If you feel you will be overlooked, send me a PM starting on the 25th of the month telling me what all you have done this month, so you can highlight whatever you wish for us to notice. Bonus points if you are active in Pokemon, GFX, or Magic: The Gathering sections!

I think this is a great idea. The only thing that I would worry about is once those 5 or so people are picked out and released for the whole community to vote on, it then becomes a popularity contest instead of a best member contest. I guess it's something that can't be avoided though. Once you are "member of the month" and you get your special tag and whatnot, are you always in that member group, or only until the next contest comes about? Should you implement a rule saying that someone that has won can't win again for another 6 months or something, because I can see some of the well-liked members winning over and over. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, the whole board counts.

Member of the Month is for the member usergroup only, so HoF/Ex-staff will not be counted as part of this.

Once your run is over, you're removed from the usergroup, so it's not a permanent position. I'll make sure to give new and vibrant members chances, so other people get a chance. I think 6 months is too long, but something like "no consecutive MotM's" should be okay.

In regards to current/future mod comments, I decided to add a new incentive. This is it:

• Ask Achilles! During your run as MotM, you can ask me anything you want about yourself or ETC, and I will answer it truthfully.

The only questions you can't ask are about my opinions on other members or stuff like that. For example, you can ask me what you should do to become a mod, and I will give you a completely honest answer on what I would like to see you do for you to get a mod spot on etc.
